I love how you broke it down into objectives. I think I may go back and do that with my math vocabulary project. It makes perfect sense. Your plan is very detailed and concise. Nice Work!
ReplyDeleteI think breaking it down into objectives will help in keeping everything manageable. I love how detailed your plan is. Great work!
ReplyDeleteKim,
ReplyDeleteGreat plan you have going here. The detail is awesome, and you have broken things down very well. I really am intrigued with you Target Time initiative...awesome stuff. Vertical alignment is great in theory but tough to achieve in the classroom it seems. This is a great plan.
This plan is very detailed and I really like how you broke your action steps down. I am curious about the vertical planning element. How often will this occur and how does it work? I would really like to know what happens with your inquiry.
ReplyDeleteThank you for the positive comments. Anita, we will plan as often as needed depending on the concept. Our campus has a meeting time every Wednesday for groups to plan. Our math Target Time is every third week so we will plan at least once every third week. But we are continually assessing throughout the unit and adjusting groups accordingly. I did Target Time planning by myself last year and it was very time consuming. This vertical planning and teaching is new so I too am anxious for the outcome. I will post the findings in late May or June.
ReplyDeleteVertical alignment is extremely important. I am currently an 8th grade math teacher who loves to vertical align with my 6th and 7th grade teachers. I have many students who are currently in my class who has never passed a math standardized test. I believe you will find great success with using vertical alignment. I wish we did more with the elementary schools and the high schools. Thanks for sharing, I would love to hear from you with your results!
ReplyDeleteThat is awesome collaboration. As a secondary teacher (physics) I can tell you that vertical alignment is HUGE; we expect our juniors coming in knowing certain aspects (SI system of measurement, how to isolate a variable) and when large numbers are lacking requisite skills first six weeks is a nightmare. Good luck on your project; the kids will benefit from your efforts.
